Lesson Ideas
Here are some essential concepts to consider in our quest to rock the world or sooth a crying baby!
1. Pick or Fingers! What are you going to use? There is not a "one size fits all" way to play. I use both. Fingers give a more intimate feel and connection to the string. A pick gives a more immediate string response that will allow for many tonal colors as well.
2. Steel strings are harder on the finger tips in the beginning. It takes time and perseverance to overcome but well worth it! Nylon strings will make the beginning easier but don't have the volume or brightness. A Ukulele is a wonderful way to start a musical journey. Very manageable for young hands and they sound great!
3. We learn so much by listening...to all kinds of music. Reading about scales and chords will give us a visual picture to put sounds with. Reading music notation will open up a world of different sounds to discover.
How to Practice - This pdf file gives you insight into the regimen of practice and what you could be working on to improve your guitar skills.
Triads - Here we can see one 3 note chord all over the neck of the guitar. From here we learn to find all chords, chord tones and target the sweet notes in your solos?
These ideas are just the beginning in our understanding of what the guitar holds in the way of songs, keys, scales, chords and fun!
