I am letting you know about a new musical project I am working on. Please check
out the Italian Project video and the links to many of the artists involved. If it
does well I do well!
Consider joining Lisa Bell in this endeavor and become a part of our
Italian musical project. I am writing and playing guitar with Lisa as well
as mixing all of the music here at OilPan Studios. Here is a bit of the
It turns out that the Italian drummer I performed with last summer and that
we are working with now, Cesare Valbusa is also John Jorgensons (Hellecasters , Desert Rose Band) drummer when he plays Italy. Recently I was able to tell John about this connection while hanging out at "Guitar Town" which is 3 days of fantastic guitar performsnce at Copper Mountain.
We also have Mario Pagliarulo on bass who tours with Trevor Hall and recently played with System of Down artist Serj Tankian on the Jimmy Kimmel show. Lisa will also have Emmy winner, Mark Oblinger record her vocals at his studio in Boulder. Somewhere in this time frame
she is flying to Italy to have her friend Lisa Simmons of Hippie Tendencies add her parts. Upon her return it will be up to me to blend all of the tracks into a killer sound experience. Whew!
It is a great pleasure to be working with these individuals and your help
will facilitate this taking place so please sign up early and often. Please
pass this on to any and all fans of great music!
Another fun show with this band last night!
The Ignelzi's, Chris, Steve and Tate of Signel-Z finish each others musical ideas and sometimes their sentences. I have to pay close attention to keep up! Form, feel and harmony can change on a dime with these guys because they all have big musical ears! Joni Mitchell to Steely Dan kept the crowd involved which included many of my musical friends. Thanks for attending!
Stay tuned for more possibly at Nissi's in August and Shine in September.
After leaving the Jam at Ralphies Saturday I performed a duo gig with Lisa Bell that required me to read charts for 2+ hours. Many of the songs we never performed before so it was a learning experience!
If I had not grown up with an interest in all music this gig would have been impossible to do. If you want to do this for a living I would suggest listening to music from years ago. Show tunes, real book tunes, TV themes, songs that where made popular in movies and that are in the public psyche.
In the beginning focusing on what we love is great but value all music and learn what makes the different styles tick. You may never need to do this type of gig but it adds value to you as a person, musician, performer and songwriter.
Most happy with a guitar around my neck though it is starting to weigh me down!
